City of Burlington Home Page | Quality of Life | Burlington Municipal Band
Note from the webmaster:  We update this web site at least once a week during our summer concert season.  Since the program for each Sunday concert is finalized at our rehearsal on Monday evening, we generally post the week's update sometime on Tuesday.  Unfortunately, if you are viewing this page on a summer Monday, what follows will undoubtedly be the information for YESTERDAY'S concert.
For those specifically SEEKING web pages from past concerts, our recent concert archives are now available online.

Carmen Lachnitt
If you are one of those people who can't get enough holiday music in December, you're in for a real treat -  our conductor this week, Carmen Lachnitt, has chosen "Christmas in July" as her concert theme!  Carmen is the band director at Burlington's Notre Dame High School and, when not wielding a baton, Carmen wields a bassoon!  In addition to our band, Carmen performs with the Southeast Iowa Symphony and the Southeast Iowa Band.
Carmen's other selections include An English Christmas arranged by Clare Grundman; Joyous Christmas Spirit arranged by Bob Lowden, including O Come All Ye Faithful, I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day, The First Noel, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, What Child is This? and Joy to the World; Gesu Bambino by Pietro Yon arranged by James Ployhar; Appalachian Carol Festival arranged by Robert Jager; We Wish You a Mambo Christmas arranged by Erik Morales; Sleigh Ride by Leroy Anderson; Christmas Variants (based on O Come, O Come, Emmanuel); An Irving Berlin Christmas arranged by Warren Barker including Happy Holiday, White Christmas, and Let's Start the New Year Right; and our traditional closing march, The Stars and Stripes Forever by John Philip Sousa.
Jeremy Henman
Our thanks to all of you who braved the rain and the street barricades to reach the James Madison auditorium.  As always, we enjoyed the Nauvoo Pageant Bagpipe Band's performance and, judging from the applause, we think you did too!

Adrian Benson
UNI sophomore and Notre Dame High School graduate Adrian Benson will be our vocal soloist, singing Mel Torme and Bob Wells's famous The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire) arranged by Jerry Nowak.  It's a particularly appropriate piece for a summer Christmas concert as you'll see if you click on the link below.
