Every summer, the Burlington Municipal Band participates in Burlington's Steamboat Days Parade. Our band is always smaller than usual for this event since many of our members have other obligations, including leading and participating in other bands in the parade. This year, our band was on the back of a truck driven and provided by the folks at Millard's. Thanks, Millard's!
On June 26, 2009, the Burlington Municipal Band co-sponsored a concert by The Noteables, a unit from the United States Air Force Heartland of America Band. We have a separate gallery with photos from that performance.
The band is fortunate to have many faithful audience members. One such person is Carrie Orth, affectionately known among the band members as the "cookie lady." Mrs. Orth is saxophonist Alisha Orth's mom and, at the conclusion of nearly every concert, she can be found with a tray of freshly baked cookies (often still warm) for the band members. These photos, taken after our July 12 concert, show band members Georgia Houseman, Mike Lachnitt, Mark Eveleth and conductor Ron Coberley (with the tie) eagerly "chowing down." Way to go Mrs. Orth...we love you!
The August 2, 2009 concert featured our annual "pre-concert" performance by a jazz band made up of members of the Municipal Band.
